Master-Craftsman chambre de metiers

Decree n° 98-247 of 2 April 1998 concerning trade qualifications specifies that the status of craftsman can only be acquired through a certificate of professional aptitude (CAP) or certificate of professional studies (BEP) or by being registered in the trade for at least 6 years. The "Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat de la Haute-Corse" grants craftsman's certificates and ratifies requests to be classed as "Maître Artisan" (master-craftsman).

The title of Craftsman : the qualification is granted by the president of the "Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat " to managers of small businesses and to company directors of businesses listed in the Trade Directory.
The title of craftsman is also attributed with the same conditions as for qualifications and titles to spouses involved in the business and associated spouses who are personally and regularly involved in the business activity.
Candidates must have a professional diploma (CAP or BEP) or an approved qualification of at least the same level in the trade practised or in a closely similar trade, or have been registered for at least 6 years in the trade concerned.

The title of Master-Craftsman : the title is granted by the regional qualifications commission, after a request has been approved by the services of the "Chambre de Métiers et de l'Artisanat ". The title is granted in the following cases :
• the candidate possesses a training diploma at least equivalent to the advanced certificate ("brevet de maîtrise") in the trade practised, has 2 years professional experience and a knowledge equivalent to the following "brevet de maîtrise" modules : "economic and financial management" and "apprentice supervisor";
• the candidate has been registered in the Trade Directory for at least 10 years and, in absence of a diploma, he or she can demonstrate a craftsmanship that can be taken into account for promoting craftsmanship or he or she can demonstrate his/her participation in training.
