The creation and updating of this site were made possible thanks to financial support from the Community Initiative Programme, INTERREG III-A.
The European Economic Interest Grouping (EEIG), "Artisanat Transfrontalier", was able to develop a coherent economic development programme within a framework encompassing Corsica, Tuscany and Sardinia, in order to achieve its aim to "develop and enhance the economic and training activity of its members, particularly by centralisation, data collection and the implementation of such action as is necessary for the realisation of the aim".
The objectives are:
• to collect documentation from different sources (consular establishments, general councils, provinces, member states, etc.), as well as all types of information concerning institutions and associations;
• to make this information and documentation available locally and at a distance by using existing logistical supports (visio-conferences, Internet site, international newsletter, etc.);
• to open a "cross-border space" for meetings, exchange, training and education;
• to propose common strategies, and to develop and establish development projects in different sectors, particularly in the area of employment;
• to become a centre of reference and a pole of excellence for international cooperation in the Mediterranean Basin.
Thus, Pic INTERREG III made it possible to carry out a number of actions including:
- The establishment of an "international observatory" for the development of business and the employment market through the use of new information and communications technologies (NICT).
- Participation in trade fairs and shows in each of the regions and in other Mediterranean countries.
- The establishment of a permanent "International Economic Development and Assistance Office" in each region in order to provide information and guidance for companies involved in cross-border projects.
- The development of existing tools such as the international newsletter, "GEIE News" or the Internet site, "artigianatu.com".
